Engineering Manager, GI

A leading digital care company is building a new team from scratch to launch a gastrointestinal (GI) care program, and it needs an engineering manager to lead the effort. You'd take a product from zero to launch, combining software, AI and licensed care providers to improve outcomes for a condition that affects roughly one in four U.S. adults.

Why this role

• Build a new product line from the ground up instead of inheriting an existing one

• Assemble and lead a team of about five engineers working across a React Native mobile app and Go and JavaScript backend services

• Partner directly with senior leadership, product, design and marketing

• Stay hands-on, spending roughly 15% of your time on code

What you'll do

• First 3 months: build the team, set goals and rituals, define the new product line, and align product, design and marketing on strategy and success metrics

• First 6 months: ship a minimum lovable product, set up a rigorous A/B experimentation program, and establish engineering practices for CI/CD, testing, monitoring and app performance

• 12 months and beyond: launch the product, run experiments to grow usage and member success, and mentor the team

What we're looking for

• 3+ years managing a team of about five or more engineers in a fast-paced, product-focused environment

• A track record of building new products from scratch and pulling a strong team together quickly

• Strong React Native, mobile or client-side background, or equivalent depth in full-stack web

• Experience designing, running and interpreting A/B experiments

• Experience using AI coding tools (such as Cursor or Claude Code) to speed up development

• A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience

• Nice to have: server-driven UI, GraphQL, Python, TypeScript/Node, AWS, and healthcare (HIPAA) experience

Location
Hybrid, based at the San Francisco headquarters, with three days a week in the office.
